LUX Products Corporation and EnergyHub Collaborate to Provide Smart Thermostats for Utility Demand Response Programs

Philadelphia, PA, Jan. 20, 2016 – Coming off the launch of its new, WiFi thermostat, the LUX/GEO, LUX Products Corporation today announced an ongoing collaboration with New York-based EnergyHub, the leading connected device solution for electric utilities, to power the application technology behind LUX Products’ new LUX/GEO smart thermostat.

With winter in full gear, homeowners are turning up the thermostat to combat the cold, harsh weather. To help manage power surges on the grid, EnergyHub offers utilities a platform to deliver demand response programs to consumers. To enroll in a demand response program, consumers need a smart thermostat. Now, utilities can offer programs to consumers that feature LUX Products’ new LUX/GEO thermostat through EnergyHub.

“EnergyHub is excited to partner with LUX to offer even greater device choice for customers enrolled in Bring Your Own Thermostat℠ demand response programs,” said Seth Frader-Thompson, co-founder and president of EnergyHub. “We look forward to adding LUX to the list of leading technology partners integrated with our platform.”
The LUX/GEO WiFi thermostat helps manage the influx of energy needed during super high peak times – like during a summer heat wave. By partnering with EnergyHub, LUX makes its thermostats available to more customers for participation in demand response programs.

“When we created the LUX/GEO, we had both the utility and the consumer in mind,” said Rob Munin, president of LUX Products Corporation. “For us, we are providing a reliable, smart thermostat with rich features and functionality and a best-in-class app to consumers. Not only does it give them control over their home comfort, but it also enables the consumer to do its job in helping the utilities manage energy usage and demand. EnergyHub is the technology backbone that makes it easy for the two to work together via its cloud-based platform.”
